The HP Z3100 printer is a 44-inch wide pigmented-ink jet device that uses 12 fade-resistant colors. Using more colors (most Giclee devices use 6 or 8 inks) provides an expanded color-tone range and excellent blends, for the highest quality prints. Ink density is greater, providing brighter and deeper saturation.

The Hewlett Packard Z3100 large format color printer is ideal for reproducing fine art and photography because of its superior features:

Vivera pigment inks (12 inks, including light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow, red, green, blue, light gray, gray, photo black, matte black, and a gloss enhancer), a feature that provides a superior color-gamut range and image quality
a built-in spectrophotometer using Gretag Macbeth iOne technology (allows user creation of ICC profiles for any paper)
automatic computer calibration based on the consumables used for each job
print heads with a fine nozzle size, which ensures high-quality prints
real-time checking of all 12,672 nozzles to prevent clogs or bad print heads
a gloss enhancer to prevent dull or shiny patches when printing on glossy or semigloss media (eliminates gloss differential and bronzing)
full control over both color balance and lightness, and total control over tonal range
color resolution up to 2400 x 1200 optimized dpi

To produce superior Giclee prints you need more than a superior large-format printer: digital reconversion equipment (scanners) for hard copy originals, excellent RIP software, and well-trained technicians are also essential. Our external RIP is state of the art for the Z3100 printer, and our technicians are college-trained in digital reproduction methods.
